Very sweet flat-top acousitc from the second and final generation of Tama guitars 76-79. Handmade in Japan, the factory went on to produce the also highly regarded 1st series Ibanez Artwood series of acoustics. All solid wood construction. Neck and body mahogany and ebony fretboard. Quite a plain jane to look at apart from the large stylised 'T" in pearl on the headstock. The guitar is very heavy and this certainly contributes to the big resounding tone it produces. Top notch solid spruce top and general craftsmanship throughout, right down to the volute at the rear of the headstock. Very well balanced sound and very versatile to make marked tonal changes by hitting or plucking the strings slightly either side of the soundhole. A real players guitar, easily on a par with mid range Martins, and probably better than similar Martins of the same era. Increasingly rare and hard to find. People who are lucky enough to find one will most likely grow old with it long after other guitars in their collection are sold.note that the second series is all solid wood construction and that, whilst still great (and often highly decorated and very pretty) guitars in their own right, the 1st Tama series (early 70s-76) generally used a lot of laminates in construction and can sound more trebly.
