1981 Gibson Les Paul Harvest Goldburst

1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom Serial #83381xxx. Vintage Harvest Goldburst Finish Sometimes called Bronze Burst Sometimes called Harvest Gold. Here's a Cool 1981 Les Paul Custom in Gold Burst with Gold Hardware. Diamond shaped strap knobs, Gibson tuners with speed winders. 10.5 lbs. The Goldburst/Bronzeburst/Harvest Gold Finish is one of the rarest of Les Paul Finishes, with about 50 guitars estimated to have been finished in that color. Especially rare with original finish as the finish had some problems and many were refinished by Gibson or others. It is an awesome rich color with plenty of depth and sparkle. Pickups are Tim Shaw Era stamped with a 1981 code in ink on the bottom (392 1081 Neck, 393 981 Bridge), and they sound great. Volume pots are dated the 24th week of 1981, and tone pots are dated the 45th week of 1980. Guitar built December 04, 1981, in the Nashville factory. The Ebony Fingerboard and large frets are quite easy to play, with plenty of life left (less than 20% wear and no grooves). This guitar sounds just right, with good tone, low action. The neck pickup has lots of growl, and the bridge pickup has plenty of bite and tone. 3rd owner, was played in a band in the 80s. OHSC 1st generation Gibson Chainsaw case with plastic latches (all 3 latches work- another rarity), red interior.

As you can see in the pictures there is playwear on the neck and back. The factory finish is orange peel type texture (almost like the current "faded" Gibson finish) and this was a particular problem with most of the guitars in this finish. Couple small chips on tip of headstock. Pick marks on pickguard and in the finish between pickups as shown in pic. Input jack plate slightly indented (from hitting guitar input while playing), stopbar tailpiece has a few dings on it. No breaks or repairs. The neck tone knob has been replaced. All other components are original.

Great opportunity to own a truly rare guitar from a great era for Les Paul Customs. Might be interested in partial trades for 1980-1985 Les Pauls, just ask!
