This exceptional instrument was hand made at the Guild plant in Hoboken, NJ. As one of only four blond/natural finish CA-100s made in 1964 (plus only seven in sunburst) it's a particularly rare model.

The original owner of this fine guitar was a working jazz guitarist in New York whose health issues necessitated the sale of the instrument. On the recommendation of famed luthier James D'Aquisto, this carved spruce top guitar was purchased in 1976 by an amateur guitarist and student of noted jazzman Barry Galbraith.

This full hollow body instrument has maple back and sides and a three-piece mahogany/maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and block pearloid inlays. The 24 3/4" scale neck has a 1 11/16" nut and the fast action for which Guild was famous.

Although designed and carved as an acoustic instrument, this guitar also has the renowned DeArmond Model 1000 neck-mounted pickup that was available as an option from Guild. Other features include Guild's Chesterfield veneer headstock and Harp tailpiece, along with a floating rosewood bridge and (non-original) Shaller sealed tuners.

While the guitar's condition is virtually the same today as it was in 1976, the strength and clarity of its acoustic and electric voices have improved over the years. Although the single coil floating pickup has no Tone control, the "musicality" of this instrument is particularly responsive to changes in string selection. (Among the pairings found successful with this guitar are T-I round wound Bebop, GHS Precision Flats stainless steel, and LaBella Nylon Tape Wound strings.) More importantly, this guitar is also highly responsive to the musician's touch and expressiveness, yielding superb tone and (as called for) plenty of punch, both acoustically and amplified.
