This is an SS Stewart Archtop Orchestra Guitar made by the SS Stewart Company.
This fine, orchestra guitar was hand-made in the style of a fine cello with a natural varnish finish, tortoise shell trim and real mother of pearl fret inlays. There is an original stamped serial number inside the body. The guitar is in excellent condition with no warping in the neck, body or fretboard; however, there are slight indents worn into years of first-position playing on the fretboard and natural hair-line cracks in the original varnish. It is perfectly harmonically sound with fantastic resonance. Unfortunately, someone cut away a spot to add a pick-up in the 1930s - 1940s. The two control knobs for the pick-up are Bakelite Plastic and are still on the guitar. The original two-magnet pick-up was so old and dry that the plastic covering and cloth wiring disintegrated. I replaced it with a wooden Dean Markley pick-up.
If you are a serious collector/buyer and would like to see more pictures from all angles, including the stamped serial number and a short video clip of me playing the guitar, contact me and I will send more information. The model number listed on this site is a generic number issued by this site.
This guitar comes with a well-made solid case and an old fold-up tubular stand. NOTE: SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY! Please don\'t contact me to impress with me how much you think you know about this guitar.
