This lapsteel is in no way made by Gibson. It was made by the Jackson-Guldan Violin company of Columbus, Ohio. Their main line was inexpensive violins, violas, cellos, and upright basses for students but they occasionally did short runs of lapsteels as well as acoustic and Hawaiian guitars. Oahu is their well known label for Hawaiians. Their most popular acoustics were the Chris Adjustomatic and the Blue Suede. There was also a Jay G brand. I personally have a Guldan acoutsic with a pickup that looks reminiscent of the 1930's to 1940's period of early electrified guitars and have never seen, or even found mention of, another one like it so it may be a sole survivor or one of a kind. There was a Jackson-Guldan amplifier on ebay a few years ago but someone else wanted it more than I did and outbid me. I wish I had gotten it now because the amplifier is even more rare.
