This is a Vineyard copy of a Style #1 Weissenborn hollow squareneck lap guitar. Comes with gig bag.

Weissenborn guitars were popular from the early 1920's to early 1930's. With their square hollow necks and featherweight koa wood construction, they offered both greater volume and sustain than conventional Spanish round neck guitars for Hawaiian lap steel playing. Due to their sweet timbre, expressive tone and eye catching design, these guitars were an instant hit and stayed in demand until about the late '20s, when the resonator instruments, like National and Dobro, with their greater volume, became an instant sensation.

This is a nice Weissenborn-style clone, with a finely figure mahogany top, back and sides and Gotoh tuning machines.

Amazingly enough, it was made in China ... supposedly from the same factory that makes similar Weissenborn clones, such as Gold Tone. The tone is nice, deep, with decent sustain.

To be sure, this is an inexpensive guitar, and a copy ... but remember, the original Weissenborn Style #1 (of which I had two) was also, in its day, inexpensive and not all that well-constructed.

Payment, shipping & handling: PayPal is preferred, money or postal orders accepted. Shipping will be via UPS Ground for $35.00. Continental USA only.
