This mahogany bodied, flat topped set neck guitar is clearly derived from Gibson\'s Les Paul Special form and was produced in Yamaha\'s Japanese factory in 1987. Yamaha\'s take on the LP Jr. style is more an improvement than a tribute, incorporating killer Dimarzio DP162 soapbar humbuckers (Yamaha calls them \"Q100\"s), a five-way blade switch for coil-tapping, a four-ply white pearloid pickguard and a perfectly smooth heel-less neck joint. It has a beautifully finished, C-shape neck with a medium radius board and fat frets that has an instantly comfortable traditionalist feel. Great hardware all around with rock-solid tuners and over-size strap buttons. I\'ve lost the urge to play a Les Paul since I found it.
