This is my beloved 1989 Guild X-170 fully hollow archtop electric guitar for sale. Introduced in 1988, the Guild Manhattan X-170 is a thinline version of the venerable X-175, which made its debut in 1954, a year after the company opened its doors. With its large 17" body and contoured Venetian cutaway, the Manhattan X-170 is comparable to Gibson's slimline ES-350T, a collector's classic built between 1955 and 1963. This guitar was made in Guild's Westerly, Rhode Island shop (SN: HL100517). The finish features the rare cherry burst, and has beautiful flame on the neck and back, as well as all gold hardware. The pictures don't do this beauty justice. It is in perfect condition, other than a few cracks in the finish around the binding, (which is normal for a nearly 20 year old instrument) and a small, slight dent on the back of the headstock and a tiny ding in the finish on the back of the body in an inconspicuous spot. I had the original pickups replaced [with Duncan Jazz (neck) and DiMarzio Virtual PAF (bridge)], but still have the originals, which are in perfect working order, and will include them with the instrument. Everything else is all original. The hardware shows typical wear. This instrument sounds and plays great and is getting hard to find since they stopped making them in 2002. The original hard shell case has a broken handle, and is currently out of state, but I will be reacquiring it shortly and will be included with the sale. I will also include a very thick-padded gig bag with shoulder straps.
