1940 Martin D 18 ser# 76047 great D18 or D 18
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-12-06)
Price : US $8,200.
1940 Martin D-18, serial number 76047 in great condition. I had a 1943 D-18 and this sounds much better for some reason, it is an awesome sounding and playing guitar, with no issues or need to fix anything. It is ready for the next 67 years, as it is 67 years old now.
There is a picture of George Gruhns appraisal letter in the pictures I have listed. I took the guitar to George Gruhn in Nashville so he could see and play it for the appraisal, as stated in his letter it is said to have been repaired and refinished by Richard Starkey . The repairs are as stated in the appraisal letter : refinished, replaced decal, fingerboard planed and refretted, replaced nut, new pick guard, strap button installed on heel of neck, reset neck, repaired heel crack, new bridge, repair on back from preamp removal, removal of non original tail piece, several repaired cracks. As is typical of this period it features an Adirondack spruce top with scalloped bracing, ebony fingerboard and mahogany neck, back and sides. Current value $12,500.00 From what I seen for sale in his store this is a low to fair appraisal.
Buyer is to pay shipping and insurance.
Payment to be recived with in 5 days, I will ship when funds clear my Bank if a check is used for payment
