Gibson Melody Maker Electric Guitar 1966(?)
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-10-03)
Price : US $511.00
Up for auction is a Melody Maker Gibson Electric Guitar with serial number 550773 clearly inked in black on the back tip top of the guitar. I think that makes it a 1966 - but I am NOT SURE. Has hardly been played in the past 8 years at least. I haven't owned an amp for4 years, but last time I did the guitar sounded great. As far as I know everything on it still works. The tuners are not original because I see little holes in the back. Also, I see 3 holes on the top of the body where a piece has been moved (See picture). The solid body is a maroon color and you can see the grains of the wood - it is really pretty. There are two imperfections I want to point out to potential buyers. On the back of the body there is a scratch that is about 4' long (picture #4). Also on the neck there is a 1 1/2' red spot. (picture #5-not sure what it is and it is hard to see.) The guitar is about 39 1/2' long. There are 22 frets and the fingerboard has original pearl dot inlay. 2 volume and 2 tone controls. I am pretty sure that most peices are original. I don't know much about vintage guitars so I hope the pictures can show you what you need to know. There is no case.
