All right folks, due to a severe cash crunch, some long time keepers
are hitting the auction block. Please check my other auctions for some
very collectible, killer guitars. Now for your consideration, a 1954 Martin 0-18, Serial Number 136237. Mahogany back and sides, Spruce top, Rosewood fingerboard. Starts at a grand with no reserve folks.
In my opinion the tuners and nut are original. It has a newer professionally compensated bone saddle and non-original bridge pins. Frets show decent wear, but still quite playable - quite possibly original given this thing's great condition. The fingerboard definitely has some wear in the first positions, but they've never bothered me. I don't believe the neck has ever been reset, and the action is just plain perfect. This thing chimes like a bell - huge volume and really complex overtones. Great for fingerstyle and really spanky with a pick. For what these things go for, they are a huge bargain for a vintage Martin tone. This guitar appears to have been re-lacquered at some point in it's career, probably only on the sides and back. It has some 'roll points' where it was over applied. This is a very minor thing which is not really noticeable, and just plain impossible to photograph, but they are there. There are the usual dings and gouges on a 50-plus year old instrument, but it's really in pretty great shape. Unfortunately, the original case was long gone when I got this guitar. It will ship
