You are bidding on a near mint 1979 Ovation Anniversary edition acoustic electric guitar, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Ovation guitar company. Charles Kaman and Kaman Industries were the designers and manufacturers of the Ovation acoustic-electric 'roundback' guitars that set the standard for acoustic-electrics at the time, especially among professional musicians and recording engineers. This specific model (#1657-7) was known as the Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer and was the model played by Campbell, as well as many other rock and country artists of the period. I am the original owner of this guitar (Serial No. 170915) and obtained it directly from Kaman in the late 70's while working on a guitar synthesizer project. The guitar is in very good condition. You may notice in the photos that the top surface of the guitar is slightly uneven between the bridge and the sound hole. This slight dip was common for the Ovation models of this period, as the wood top is essentially fused to a single-piece graphite composite 'roundback'. The action is nice and low and the instrument's tone and clarity are remarkable when amplified. The guitar has been professionally maintained for 28 years. The built-in pickup is mounted on the interior of the 'roundback', just out of view inside the box above the sound hole, and is powered by a 9-volt battery. Comes with the original hard shell case and the original Ovation promotional booklet. . Please note: Sale available to U.S. residents only. No international shipping is available. Seller accepts PayPal only. No personal checks, no money orders.
