Vintage Gretsch Hollow Body Electric Carcass
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-10-09)
Price : US $440.00
Attention luthiers and guitarists with woodworking skills (or maybe those who just want to try their hand). We have avaialable an old Gretsch hollow body electric carcass (body and neck only) that could be a nice vintage players guitar. It just needs a little elbow grease. IMy guess is that it was an Anniversary Model (double? single?) that had been re-routed for DeArmonds. The serial number is 1001 which is stamped on the back of the headstock which puts it at Oct. 1970 or Jan. 1970. There is a small 1' crack in the heel, otherwise it's structurally sound. It also has some additional holes from tailpiece screws (probably had a Bigsby added at one time) and the tuners holes have been widened for tuners with a larger shaft. The truss rod turns and seems to still be functional. I don't know if it's going to need a neck reset or not but it definitely needs to have the board planed and be refretted. Here are some of the details of the guitar: 16' body with soft cutaway, single-ply binding front, back and fretboard, Maple laminate body, 3-piece neck, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and pearloid neo-classical fretmarkers. This is a great project, especially if you have some original vintage parts hanging around.
This sale will be final and there is no reserve.
