For sale: my beloved 1971 Gibson ES-335TD. Serial number is 630723, has orange serial number label in body cavity, volute on back of neck, 1 5/8' nut, 3-piece neck, and 'Made In USA' stamped on back of headstock. I've owned it since 1977. I believe it had just one previous owner -- a professional bluesman in Chicago who at the time wanted to trade it for a Les Paul. This was my very first electric guitar, and being left-handed, I specifically asked for this model so that it would be relatively easy to convert it to left-handed. What was performed on the guitar in the late '70s was this:
1. Nut reversed for left-handed stringing.
2. Bridge angle changed for proper intonation.
3. Trapeze tailpiece replaced with stop tailpiece.
4. Pickguard switched to opposite side of body.
5. Grover tuners installed.
I've enjoyed playing this great guitar for many years, some semi-professionally in weekend bands, and more recently, just for fun at home. The tone is magnificent, action is perfect, frets are in great shape, and in owning it for 30 years I've never had to get the neck adjusted. Original cherry red finish is in remarkable condition, with just a bit of checking here & there. No cracks in the finish whatsoever. Over the years I've become mostly a Strat & Les Pau
