Vintage 1950's Gibson ES-125
I got this guitar in the early 70's from an uncle who bought
it brand new in the 1950's.
Gibson made the
ES-125 from the early 40's up until 1972 and the majority of guitar shop
experts say this particular Gibson ES-125 was made in 1955 because the FON (Factory Order
Number) is W365-10
and is stamped in red. This is visible with a flashlight
through the treble f hole.
has changed their numbering systems many times over the last 50 years
and I don't have the time to conduct any extensive research myself but
the consensus is 1955.
For being 50
years old, this
guitar is in remarkable condition. This guitar has
been in my
closet inside the original hardshell Gibson case for the last 15 years
and no one has played it.
Mahogony back and
fingerboard clear to the 14th fret.
Single P-90 Pickup
with separate amber volume and tone controls.
Nice feel to the
neck and close action.
guitar's tone is reminiscent of the jazz styles of Joe Pass, Kenny
