Very 4 String Gibson TG 50 Tenor Guitar 1930's?
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-10-07)
Price : US $588.00
This instrument was sitting on the shelf of an old shop when I came across it. It wasn't easy finding information on it. My guess is that the 4-string Gibson is like a Mariachi guitar, made for walking and playing. The finish is worn off on the body about where the player's upper and lower arm would have rubbed. The body is split (see photo) undoubtedly from improper storing, but I can push the seam closed with relative ease. Hopefully you can see the neck photos well. The neck is hand-crafted with chisel? ridges on the back and some of the natural wood's imperfections along some of the frets. The fretboard has pearl inlays, I believe the bridge is ivory. The neck is about half the width and depth of a modern guitar but extremely vital. The guitar has all of it's parts and all appear original. I can imagine that the user had great versatility with the way this instrument was crafted.
I have done nothing with the instrument except to find out the model, take photos and post it for auction. I haven't removed the dust or what's left of the wire strings on it. I took the time to obtain an acoustic guitar box from Guitar Center for shipping and will pack the instrument with great care. Shipping includes insurance for USPS Priority, a 2-3 day delivery service.
As questions. It should go without saying that the instrument is sold 'as is' with no representation that it is in playable condition. Bid accordingly.
