Price : US $223.50
This is a vintage Rex Electric lap steel guitar. From what I have been able to find out about it, which is very little, unfortunately, Rex was a brand name used by the Gretsch company for its lower end models. I have seen a mandolin and an acoustic guitar with the Rex name on Ebay before. The one is in very good shape and is was likely built in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It is a through-neck instrument; the neck seems to be maple and the body wings look like mahogany. The satin finish has been slightly worn in places, but there are not breaks or major dings of any kind, as you can see in the pictures. The pickup assembly has a brown crinkle type finish, which has worn in places. The volume and tone pots have been changed with new CTS pots and a new cable has been added but the pickup is original. The tuners have been changed at some point and are fairly difficult to turn, but hold tune very well once tuned up. This lap steel has a huge, high output pickup with two blade polepieces and has a wonderful, loud, in your face blues tone through a cranked up tube amp like a Fender Bassman. The original, tweed semi-hardshell case is included in the auction. Please ask me any questions you may have before bidding. There is no reserve for this auction. I will only ship withing the lower 48 states in the United States only for this auction. I will ship within 2 business days of the close of the auction. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have before bidding, and I will do my best to answer them for you.
