Antique Epiphone Electar Guitar 1938 Vintage Electric
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-10-06)
Price : US $190.50
Up for auction is an antique/vintage Epiphone Electar Guitar. The wood case is in very good condition and fairly complete with the exception of the electronics. You can see the rectangular cutout on the front for the pickup and the four holes at the lower right for the knobs. Also there is a small 6' x 6' panel on the back which can be removed to access the inside. 'With the start of the Electar model line in late 1935, Epiphone began a new serial number system for their electric instruments only. These numbers are die-stamped and are between 3 and 5 digits in length. Ususally they are located on the top rear of the peghead' (Epiphone websight). As you can see from the picture, the number on the top rear of the peghead is 2273 which indicates it was made in 1938. The thin brass plate on the back of the peghead reads, 'Patented Licensed by Miessner Inventions Inc. Millburn N.J. Under one or more of the following U.S. Patents...' (then there are 10 long numbers concluding with, 'and other pending patents.')Because the case is so solid and in good condition, this should prove to be a great project with excellent potential for a valuable collectable vintage guitar. As there is a low starting bid and NO RESERVE, this should prove to be a great purchase for someone. The successful bidder will pay $17.50 towards shipping in the U.S. (48 states) and the actual outside. Happy bidding!
