Vintage 1952 Lap Steel. These early 50s steels are becoming more of a rarity, originally designed as a student lapsteel, they are becoming more valuable in and part because the parts, the pickups, potentiometers, and knobs have been used by people to rebuild their 50s teles, as they are the same. This particular guitar is some what of an extreme rarity. This is due to the fact that it has one of the most highly collectable parts of all the lap steels: it has a plate stamp with the serial number 005518, an extremely old serial number. Also, this guitar has the numbered fret board, also a rarity. This guitar is functional right now and ready to be used as soon as possible. The head plate, machine heads, bottom plate (with serial number), paint job, pickup, and potentiometers are all original. There is some sanding along both edges, as seen in the photos, but this paint is easily restored. I called Fender and they stated that they are able to match it for restoration. Aside from the sanding, this guitar is in fantastic condition, as there is no corrosion on the metal parts and the original felt on the back is in good condition.
Included in this auction is AN ORIGINAL CASE that is in good condition for its age and still opens, closes, and remains closed to secure the guitar.
This guitar has a great vintage look and the last time I played it through my tube amp, it wailed like no tomorrow. This is a fantastic piece of guitar engineering that will wail like no other slide guitar.
The winner of this auction will pay preferably via Paypal. Thanks for the interest and good luck with the bidd
