Here I have for sale a 1992 Gibson J-1500. I will describe the guitar using an excerpt from a book entitled 'Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top Guitars: An Illustrated History and Guide.' - 'In 1992 Gibson brought to market two intelligent afterthoughts, The J-1500 and the J-1000, both built as less costly versions of the J-2000, the most expensive flat top in the company's history. Only a few dozen of these models were produced before their discontinuation. The J-1500 featured the same body size, shape, and woods as the J-2000. For a guitar that was conceived as a stripped down version of a more expensive guitar, the J-1500 was very fancy: Abalone was used for the Gibson script, the fleur-de-lis of the peghead, the soundhole purfling, and fingerboard inlays that imitate those of a mid-30's F-7 mandolin. Because so few J-1500's were produced, these adorned guitars should prove highly collectible.'
Now for my description. To the best of my knowledge, the guitar is completely original except for the tuning keys which have been upgraded to gold Waverlys. These required no new holes to be drilled in the peghead. I will include the original deluxe gibson tuners with the guitar. Also a strap button was added at the base of the neck. There is some lacquer chipping around the tuner shafts which was there before the Waverlys were installed. Also some lacquer chipping on the edge of the fingerboard binding which I tried to show in one of the pictures. There are also picking marks on the top between the pickguard and the bridge. The rest of the body is very clean but does show small nicks and marks as to be expected with a 1
