1952 Gretsch Acoustic Archtop Guitar Synchromatic
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-11-05)
Price : US $675.00
You are bidding on an early fifties american Gretsch Synchromatic jumbo sized acoustic archtop guitar. It has been dated at around 1952. The last year for the script logo was 1954 so it is at least that old. The '54s I've seen had the tombstone headstock so I think this is older.
Note the art deco style harp-shaped compensated tailpiece and synchronized stair-step bridge, hallmarks of the synchromatic model.
The action is nice and low and easily raised at the adjustable bridge. The neck is reset rock-solid. The tone is rich and loud. The shiny-piano finish is sunburst on every surface, even the back of the neck. This is a big arch top guitar with an arched back of figured maple. There is a fine crack on the bottom side, lower bout, bass side about 3 inches long about 2 inches from the end pin which does not show in the photo (#7) of that area. The pickguard is new but matches the original in color, shape and design. The original hard-shell case will be auctioned seperately after the guitar sells but will be offered first to the winner of the guitar as a reasonable addition to the packing/shipping cost. Shipping to USA lower 48 states only. You must have 10 positive feedbacks to bid. Please do not bid if you are outside the USA lower 48. Sale is final. Good Luck.
