Vintage 1959 Fender Bassman Re Tweed
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-11-12)
Price : US $2,900.
For real. This is the might mighty vintage 1959 Fender Bassman, 60 watts of dual 6L6 power, rated as one of the five greatest amplifiers every made. It is very clean on low volume settings, gets that 'Wind Cries Mary' gritty breakup just over half-way to 12 on volume knob, and anything over 9 is approaching Marshall amp territory for sounds (The first Marshall amps were based on this amp's schematic design, but using EL 34 tubes instead).
It has been re-tweeded, and I am sure re-capped and re-tubed many times (but not by me), but much is still original in the guts -- see photos. I bought from Austin Vintage Guitars who sold it on consignment for I believe Paul Leary of B***hole Surfers fame. Jimmie Vaughn once played through this amp as well. Eric Johnson heard me playing 'Wind Cries Mary' on it before I actually bought it, and ran in from other room he was in and said, 'man that sounds good' (yes I was high off that remark for a a month). I'm only telling this so you know it is the real deal. That is why I love Austin Vintage Guitars!
It is also NOW for sale again at Austin Vintage Guitars, on consignment from me, and I reserve the right to cancel this auction if sold there. I am not a vintage guitar amp expert, just a player who needs to sell this, so you will have to contact Steve Fulton at Austin Vintage Guitars at 512-428-9100 with any questions you have about the amp and what specifically is original and replaced etc. because I cannot talk that stuff knowledgeably, I am a player, not an expe
