This is a very nice Late 60's-Early 70's Vintage Yamaha FG-300 Red Label Nippon Gakki Acoustic Guitar.
The guitar sounds great. I played mainly bluegrass on it, and it sounds terrific for that. Very loud and booming, a lot of bass. I think it plays great. For me the action is good, I have it at about 3/16' at the twelfth fret. However it can be lowered or raised to your taste since it is adjustable, as is the truss rod.
There are scuffs and dings from use over the years - its been a player. No cracks. Other notes: The pick guard is in terrific condition, however it is loose from the body. It is not warped, it looks like the glue just released over the years. You could easily just glue it down, but I never bothered. Didn't seem to affect anything so why bother? Very nice condition, pickguard still has all the paint from the flowers and vines design on it. Some of the neck inlays are dinged up. Frets are OK, some dents and all. Again, never a problem for me, however, if you venture above the 15th fret on a few strings (B string, low E), there is some buzzing. It looks like it is mainly a matter of the 15th fret being too low or the 16th is too high. Again, never an issue for me because I don't play up there. Neck is fine. Lastly, one of the screws for the tuners was missing when I bought it. It was the one that holds the gear in place. I replaced it, no issue, but it does look different than the others. Please see the picture. Of course no one will see it when you play.
OK, all that being said, this is a grea
