1974 Guild F-512
Ser # 122431
To those who are familiar with this model, you will find this to be a great sounding early example. For those of you that are unfamiliar, Guild 12-strings are the best production acoustic 12-strings on the planet and the F-512 is the best of the best. 1974 was the first year of production of the F-512. All F-512’s made in years prior were custom ordered. The quality of the Indian rosewood on the early models was exceptionally good, almost as good as Brazilian.
This Guild has been played and shows some wear. It has a few of the common problems found on Guild’s. The binding on the neck has a few cracks, though all of the binding is still there. The bridge had lifted slightly at one point so it has been re-glued, and the guitar was either hung on a guitar bracket for a long period or was in the stand for too long, so it has left a mark on both sides on the headstock / neck joint. There is also one small ding mark on the front. These are all cosmetic issues that do not affect the playing or tone in any way.
Now for the good news. The neck is straight as an arrow and the action is fantastic. The guitar has been played over the 33 years since it was made and has opened up real nicely. There are almost no scratches, nicks or belt-buckle rash that you would expect to find on a vintage guitar this age that has been played this much. In general, other than the aforementioned issues, it is in great shape cosmetically. The neck is clean in front and in back and there is still a lot of fret life left. Made in Westerly, Rhode Island.
