EXCEPTIONAL FIGURED MAPLE
The exceptional tone only available from 10-year old Maple tone wood.
This is a 'NO RESERVE AUCTION' for a 1997 GIBSON SJ-200 acoustic guitar (Serial #93307012) with a luthier installed pickup/strap pin input jack. Everyone knows all the tag-lines: 'King of the Flattops,' 'the Bonecrusher,' or 'Martins Run In Fear.' But not everyone knows that a Maple tone wood acoustic guitar does not earn those superlatives until the Maple tonewood is at least 10-years old. Yes, 10-years old. When 'mother nature' made Maple, she made a tone wood that has large and wide grain. And the grain of Maple tonewood contains plenty of sap. The sap typically does not dry out and the guitar does not obtain that deep, booming tone of a super jumbo guitar until its 10th birthday. Happy birthday Mr. SJ-200, you sure have a deep voice.
This 1997 GIBSON SJ-200 acoustic guitar comes with a luthier installed pickup with an end pin input jack. It is nearly impossible to make this guitar feedback. The tone is just as sweet through a Roland Jazzmaster as it is unplugged next to a log fire on a cold winter night. And now the typical details. The 1997 GIBSON SJ-200 features a hand-selected solid Sitka spruce top; tuned and scalloped bracing; flamed maple back and sides; checkerboard marquetry; mother-of-pearl inlay on the headstock, fingerboard, and bridge; 5-ply top binding; 3-ply back binding; and bound headstock. This super jumbo comes with Gold Gotoh tuners with pearloid keystone buttons. The bridge is made of Madagascar
