Up for auction is a 2003 Gretsch 6120 Nashville with DynaSonic pickups. I started collecting Gretsch guitars a few years ago, and this was my first one. This guitar was manufactured after Fender took over the Gretsch brand, so the quality is excellent. This model was replaced in 2005 by the G6120DSV.
Everything about this guitar is geared towards a great Rockabilly look and sound. This guitar features a scale length of 24.6' (625mm), an arched laminated maple top, a laminated maple body that is 16' wide, 2.75' deep, and a 3-Piece Maple neck. It comes equipped with two DynaSonic single-coil pickups, a Bigsby B6CBDE vibrato tailpiece, a floating rosewood-based polished aluminum compensated Bigsby bridge, gold-plated Grover V98G Sta-Tite die-cast tuners, and gold plated arrow tone and volume knobs. The guitar is finished with gloss urethane in vintage orange, and with beautifully aged bindings around the entire guitar as well as the f-holes. Where this guitar stands out in the rich sound that you can only get from the single-coil DynaSonic pickups. These single coil pickups are where that 'Great Gretsch Sound' really originated.
The condition of this guitar is excellent, but it is used. There is some minor wear on the frets. The gold plating around the edges of the pickups, the edges of the tuning machines, and the edges of the strap knobs is also slightly worn. There is also a mark on the Bigsby where the arm rubbed over the mechanism, and a couple of scratches on the arm which you can see in the photographs.
