Here for sale is a 1965 Gibson ES-345, serial Number 272692. This was my brothers guitar which he played every day until he passed away in 1980. It has not been actively played since.
This model was the first year with a trapeze tail piece. The 6 position variotone switch works perfectly, all pots are clean sounding.
The tuning machines are not original .They were replaced with gold grovers when the guitar had some neckwork done to it in 1976. The pictures show that the headstock black was removed (apparently, the headstock was removed and rejoined to the neck), I remember that it was done by a professional luthier from New Haven named John Bringy. The guitar neck was also thinned a bit (or so it seems, it feels thin to me but I am a bass player so all guitar necks seem thin. The neck is straight, the intonation is perfect and it stays in perfect tune so I guess that he did a nice job. I don't have the original tuners. The finish is very beautiful and has no major dings , no buckle wear no scratches, although it does have the old age look of some lines(checks?) (three very small dings on front that are inconsequential, the most evident one shown between the toggle switch and the bridge).
It comes with its original hardshell case.
This is an amazing sounding guitar and is in great shape. Good luck bidding.
