Taylor model 510 acoustic guitar. Serial number 5698 which, according to the Taylor web-site, means that this guitar was manufactured in 1987 (around September-October). The model 510 features solid spruce top, solid mahogany back, sides and neck, and ebony fretboard and bridge.
Included is an under-saddle pickup (I believe that it is the Taylor factory installed model). There are no electronics (pre-amps, controls, etc.) and the only alteration to the guitar was the installation of the end-pin jack. While the pickup is fully functional, technology has improved considerably in 20 years. I prefer the Baggs IBeam or M1 pickup, but even modern 'film' type undersaddle pick-ups provide superior tone and string balance. If you plan to plug in, I recommend planning to upgrade the pick-up to something more modern.
This guitar is in outstanding condition. There are a few tiny cosmetic marks but no cracks or other structural damage. The most noticeable marks are shown in one of the pictures: a finish mark that runs along the end block trim above and below the end-pin jack and an L shaped indentation in the same area (probably due to clumsiness with a guitar cable plug). The few remaining marks are too tiny to show in a picture. You would be hard-pressed to find a 20 year old Taylor in better condition than this one.
This guitar has the extremely slim neck that was the hallmark of early Taylor guitars when the necks were shaped by hand. (Taylor began to shape necks by machine in 1992 and the necks became substantially thicker.)
