You are bidding on a 1967 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman. I am the second owner of this fine guitar and I know its full history. This guitar was purchased as a high-school graduation present in 1967 and played in the home only for a number of years by the first owner until he lost interest. It has never been used in gigs and as a result is in extremely good (un-restored) condition. I purchased it several years ago after it had been sitting in its case for about twenty years. It has light to moderate fret wear on the first few frets only and the rest show the oxidation from age but no noticeable signs of wear. The binding has a number of cracks due to shrinkage (common to the older Gretsch guitars). This has been professionally re-glued (not replaced). There is also a small chip in the veneer below the neck on the left side where it attaches to the upper bout (see photo). Otherwise, the finish on the guitar is near perfect. There are no finish cracks or checks. The pickups, tuners, knobs and switches show the expected wear for a fourty-year old guitar, and have been cleaned and polished. The mute is fully functional with the original mute pad. The black snap-on back cover is in perfect condition. The original case is also in very good condition. The original warranty and quality control ticket (with matching serial number) are also still in the case.
This guitar plays beautifully with a smooth effortless action. All the electronics work fine
