Here’s a bit of nearly forgotten Jackson history. The Outcaster was a solid body companion to the Jackson Surfcaster line for a short time in the 90s. It was made in Japan and has an unusual combination of a hot 13k ceramic Kent Armstrong M214 humbucker at the bridge and a mellow split-tube lipstick Kent Armstrong SLHC-1 single coil at the neck. This combination, plus the three-way switch, makes this a particularly versatile guitar for just about any kind of music. It has an interesting wrap-around bridge tailpiece that is adjustable for intonation as well as height. In short, it plays and it sounds great.
The back of the headstock is stamped Used and the serial number is on a paper label, so this was probably a factory second. There are no structural or electronic issues, so if this was a second it must have been because of a cosmetic issue, although not an obvious one. There are a few paint chips, however, earned during about 15 years of use. If the serial number follows the Jackson/Japan convention, this was made in 1992.
The pictures tell the story, although the color is more of an off-white than my camera could capture. I will include a gig bag with the guitar. If you have any questions, please email.
