VINTAGE 30'S/40'S EPIPHONE ELECTAR ARCHTOP
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2007-11-17)
Price : US $787.77
This is a rare circa 1936 Epiphone Electar. This is one of the first real (non lap steel)guitars ever made.It is very similar to the one on page C24 of “EPIPHONE, The House of Stathopoulo”, which is the premier Epiphone reference book. It appears much cleaner than the one pictured in the book. The finish is lacquer crazed on the front and the back (lightly). There is one fingernail size nick on the front, as well as, few smaller nicks. On the back, there are a lot of small nicks, however none are large ( nowhere near as many as the example in the book and not as noticeable either). There is playwear to the finish on the back of the neck. There is a plate on the back of the headstock that features all the patent numbers. All the hardware is original and it functions well (although the volume pot is a little scratchy). This guitar still plays and sounds great! The cloth on the backplate is worn through on the bottom edge. The original hardshell case is in bad shape with both hinges broken, But will protect it for shipping. If you want a really nice example of an early rare electric guitar don’t miss this one! No ZERO or NEGATIVE feedback bidders please! Shipping and insurance will be a flat $40.00 to the lower 48 states, Shipping elsewhere to be determined at the close of the auction. Good Luck!!
