This is a really cute old Kay from circa 1960. The # inside is L888 6116- tuners are No-line Klusons which normally date to earlier but they may not be original. They have been rebuttoned and work fine regardless. This guitar has Kay's ultra-cool Checker Binding around top and soundhole- don't know if pix show it all that well. Body is 15 1/2 inches across lower bout- scale length is 25 3/4. Body depth just over 4. Top is solid spruce and features strong grain contrast which is very attractive. Back and sides are I suspect birch but may be maple. Neck probably alder, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. Screw-on pickguard. This guitar has had restoration done which should set you up for years to come- Neck set- neck is straight with minimal fret wear- action under 1/8 at 12th fret; bridge reset with new maple bridge plate- top has MINIMAL deflection- all these ladder-braced guitars belly a bit. No problems or issues other than a small area of worn-off finish on lower bout side, slight tuner plating oxidation, and light finish checking- actually a lot less than you usually see on a guitar of this age. Plays great- the maple bridge plate and hardwood back and sides really gives it a ring. Nice fingerpicker or bottleneck guitar. Comes with a bag. I have had a lot of Kays- this is one of the better-preserved and nicer sounding ones in my experience. Just in time for Xmas- Have you been REAL GOOD? Email ?'s. Thanks.
