This is an original Takamine 12 string, from the days when Takamine was being courted to be Martin Sigma, and was making some very “Martinesque” acoustics (including the headstock logo – see pics). This is a great sounding 12 string. I bought it shortly before I found my ultimate jangly guitar – a 9 string Yairi. So, even though this sounds great, I need room in the stable.
This is probably from the early 70’s, so has 30 years of use, so the sound is nice and open. The top is spruce (not sure if it's solid or not), back and sides and neck are mahogany. The frets are in pretty good shape (some wear on the cowboy frets), no major issues, except for a large ‘smear’ (ding?) on the headstock over part of the logo. Has the original really nice open tuners, and they keep it in tune very nicely. The action is nice and med-low, with plenty of saddle left left, and no neck issues. And the truss rod works great.
Also has some sort of Barcus-Berry type transducer and endpin jack for playing plugged in. Sounds really good through my Fender Acoustasonic. So, it’s all ready for going plugged in, also.
Somebody give it a good home. I’m in love with my Yairi, and don’t have room for two similar guitars.
Comes with a hardshell case (might be original, not sure).
Please don't ask me to end the auction early.
