Let me first begin by saying I have played numerous, numerous guitars over the course of the last 20 years, and I have never found one that sounded better than this. The balance of tone is perfect, and it is my benchmark for the sound of a spruce top/mahogany back&sides guitar. I have played many Hummingbirds, and none of them came close to the depth, balance, and projection of this one. Its sound is perfect.
Often people selling guitars on Ebay do not mention playability/intonation etc, which is especially problematic with acoustic guitars whose intonation is not necessarily easily adjustable. I've spent a lot of time with this guitar and I know its quirks, and these may or may not be problematic for you, but rather than neglect to mention them I will present a detailed explanation of what I consider to be 'wrong' with this guitar. Additionally, I HAVE SET UP A WEB PAGE WITH 12 IMAGES IN HIGH RES:::
First the obvious things: The guitar came to me with two cracks which had supposedly been 'professionally repaired.' One crack is in the top toward the tail. It had been painted over with sparkly nail polish. The second was on the lower side, it had been filled with sparkly nail polish and had an additional piece of wood glued onto it from inside the body. I had both of these 'repairs' corrected at Chicago Music Exchange in 2000. They have been perfectly fine ever since. The headstock also had a crack, which did not in any way affect the veneer. I had it repaired at Don's Music Center in Defiance%
