WASHBURN FRETLESS GUITAR w/EMGs
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-08-09)
Price : US $127.50
Washburn Mercury series guitar with upgrades. The pickups are passive EMGs, and the frets have been pulled and the slots filled with flamed maple veneer strips.
I had some interest in trying out a fretless guitar, and I had this trade-in laying around, so I decided to give it a try. I used proper fret-puller pliers to pull all of the frets, and then I filled the slots with strips made of maple veneer that I had around the shop. There are a few divots in the rosewood 'board around a few of the fret slots, but you cannot feel them when you play, and they are not in danger of splintering or pulling out (very small, see photos).
The neck was adjusted, and the whole fretboard was sanded thru several grits using a fret leveling bar to get a nice smooth finish. The nut was lowered (neck below Floyd Rose nut was shaved) to ensure an excellent action. Playability is just fantastic.
I didn't bother to seal the fretboard, I left it natural because I preferred that feel. Some folks like to seal the board with a finish or an epoxy coating, and the buyer could always upgrade later if they desired.
The pickups are EMG passive, with a 5-way switch. I have not gotten into the electronics at all, I just did the fretless conversion.
Needless to say, I haven't played it in aseveral months, so here it is up for sale. Includes the case, wrench, Floyd trem arm. Nice rig for the beginning fretless player.
Any questions, let me know. thanks for lo
