This is a Gibson tenor archtop TG-50, the tenor version of the L50. It is short scale, 22 5/8 inches. My research indicates it was made between 1940 and 1948. All solid woods, spruce, maple, and mahogany, 16 inch lower bout. It has been refinished (so the Gibson decal on the headstock is no longer there), not a absolutely pro job, but close, could be improved with a couple more coats and leveling, but is quite handsome as is. Action is great, truss rod works fine. Comes in new Calton style fiberglass case (worth $250). The back has a split that was professionally repaired ages ago. There is a side hole for a pickup jack, also professionally done with a backing block. There is no damage under the brass jack plate, just a perfect drill hole. I will include the original contact pickup though I don't know if it works. There is a little staining on the side near the pickup jack. The wood is absolutely solid there though. This is a lovely vintage Gibson, structurally sound, lively body, no need for neck set. I know I will go to vintage hell for mentioning this, but a 40's Gibson archtop body?, put on a new six string neck and you've got an L50 for less than the price of a neck set. Check my feedback. I'm an honest seller and experienced shipper. On Aug-04-08 at 07:54:36 PDT, seller added the following information:
Sorry, I forgot to include a picture of the headstock (oops). Send your email and I'll send you one if you like. Ebay won't let me introduce any new pictures at this point.
