You are bidding on the most outrageous figured maple K&F lap steel guitar on the planet. K&F stands for Kaufman and Fender. Most likely made in 1945. Stackpole pots seem to predate the date code system. This is a very early version of the K&F. The company was only making steels for a couple of years before it became the Fender Musical Instrument Company in 1946. Early features include the low serial number, 322, stamped on the end of the headstock, first generation  PATPEND pickup with 6 individual string holes. The body has straight sides, as opposed to the later versions that have curved sides. Electronics appear to be bona fide . The coil is open, but could be easily rewound or repaired. I chose to keep it original. Tuners are orig, but they slip. The wood is the most unusual feature of this K&F. Birdseye, and curly maple!! I have never seen another like it. I have owned over 20 of these and seen at least that many others. This one rules. The fret markers were originally stenciled with creme colored paint, but has flaked off over the years.Finish is all true and right. Included is an original period hard shell case. I can't claim it came with the guitar. I have many of these instruments and I may have mixed up the cases. This is an opportunity to own one of the best steels from the Sprung Collection.
