I have a beat up old 1979 SF-1000 with the darker finish. very close to refret. i prefer this guitar over my 2008 Silverburst SG robot. It has mojo, and plays beautifully. My fav players guitar. if you see one forsalem buy it! you wont be dissapointed. said...

Ne posseggo una dal 1980 uguale a quella della prima e terza foto. E\' immacolata e di gran lunga la migliore chitarra elettrica Yamaha!

That was my first electric guitar, I still own it, and of course will never sell it ;o) I paid 500,- Deutsch Marks back in 1982.

I bought one in 1981, and it was brand new then. I believe they were made no earlier than 1980. Mine is the Oil Stain version, as the SF1000's only came in that or Blonde. It is still my number one, and as quoted on another website, it is truly the guitar Yamaha forgot they made... and probably the best they ever made... Simply Awesome.
