MAHOGANY BC Rich neck
I recently bought a BC Rich Bronze Warlock off eBay just for the body. The finish was totally ragged-out, which is no big deal, since I will refinish it anyway. BUT, when I decided to strip and refinish the neck (it was black), I said a wide-eyed WOW!!! it's MAHOGANY???? I have had 3 different Bronze Rich's and they all have maple necks, and a couple of my friend's do too. I (personally) have never seen a Bronze series guitar with a mahogany neck, so it must be a rare bird that I have here???
Well, I have completed the refinishing process and it looks beautiful. There are 8 coats of PREMIUM polyurethane on it, with the back of the neck rubbed down to 1000 grit sandpaper, giving it a soft satin sheen, and a super-slick feel. I leveled and resurfaced the frets, also down to 1000 grit. A word of caution, you will need to 'break-in' the frets by SIMPLY PLAYING THE GUITAR YOU ATTACH IT TO!!! It is a very playable neck, nice and straight. There are a couple of small dings on the fretboard, but nothing that affects playability.
The neck has no nut, or truss rod cover, both of which are readily available. Originally, it had 'vintage-style' chrome tuners on it (junk), but I enlarged the tuner holes for 'modern' Schaller/Grover-type tuners (13/32' hole). This is a 24-fret 24 3/4' scale neck. Go ahead and bid to win%2
