Up for sale is my 2002 Gibson Custom Shop CS 336. If you're looking at this, you probably know all about the model. If you don't, go to www.gibsoncustom.com, click on ''Archtops'', and there you go. Having been played only a handful of times since I got it, it remains in virtually perfect condition. For many years I owned a 1960 ES-335 which I cherished, and cried my eyes out when I lost it to a very expensive divorce about 10 years ago. While I remain a fan of Gibson's original 300 series, and some may feel this borders on heresy, I think Gibson may have finally gotten it right with this model. The body is solid mahogany with a highly figured two piece maple top. For tone, I'll take that any day over plywood. The reduced size and weight makes it perfect for both standing and sitting. This has to be one of Gibson's most versatile models; the guitar effortlessly covers rock, jazz, blues, and even funk. It's perfect custom case comes with case candy including the original COA. 2002, I believe, was the second year of production on this, but in any event, it's an early one and was clearly produced in Gibson's original Custom Shop in Nashville, long before the Memphis shop was even contemplated. I'm trying to help a daughter of mine with some tuition expenses for the fall so I get to cry my eyes out all over again (see what these damned women do to us!). There's a reserve on this but I set it below market, so bottom line is that if you want it, it's attainable. My loss will clearly be someone's gain.
