Yamaha GC5 classical guitar 1971
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-08-31)
Price : US $1,425.
I bought this new, 1971 Yamaha GC-5 guitar from the Yamaha store in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1972 or 1973. The serial number 9395.
I have a friend who reads Japanese, and the maker is Ezaki. The GC series of handbuilt guitars was rather short lived. I just contacted
Yamaha, and they said ''This model line was made between 1967 and 1971 listed for $375.00 and has a Solid Pine Top, Solid
Jacaranda Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, Ebony fretboard and a Jacaranda bridge''. I played it for a couple of years, and then
went back to the double bass. I have to face the fact that after 30 years I won't take it up again. The condition can be described as
nearly new. There have never been any repairs.
I have the original Yamaha case, which is included. It is like new except for the one locking latch. Somewhere along the way I lost
the key, so I had remove part of the latch. The other three latches are fine.
If you live close (ZIP 19547), so can play it before the auction ends.
If you are an international buyer you can go to www.usps.com to calculate Priority Mail and insurance cost. Total weight
