50's Harmony Stratotone H44 Guitar NOT REISSUE
This guitar is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-09-13)
Price : US $810.00
This is an original (not reissue), late 1950's Harmony Stratotone H44 that was refinished (except headstock) by the previous owner. The nitro refinish color was furnished by Reranch, and although not a dead ringer for the original copper color that is common with the H44, it comes pretty close. As you can see by the pictures of the back of the headstock, you can see where the previous owner chose to stop refinishing. The color appears slightly darker in some light, and slightly darker in others. I've enclosed two pictures at different angles of the back of the headstock so you can see how the color matches up. It has a metallic element to it, and looks great. I've also supplied a picture of the refin next to an original H44. You can see how close the color is. THIS PICTURE IS FOR COMPARISON ONLY...ONLY THE H44 ON THE LEFT IS INCLUDED IN THIS SALE.
I've gigged with an original H44 for many years. This one sounds perfect. It has all the big, round, HUGE tone that has made these guitars so desirable. I purchased this H44 with thoughts of converting it to a two-pickup version, but I just don't have the time or funds to invest in that type of project, so I'm going to let it go to a new home.
Some of the finer details: All binding is intact. Pickguard is original and intact as well. Frets are original and have some life in them. The strap button through the tailpiece looks like it may have been replaced, but is sufficient. The input jack in not original, and is a replacement. The pickup has some tarnishing that I believe will most likely polish out (I can try if you'd like). As far as playability goes%2
