Designed by Rich Lasner, this is a very rare and extremely fine example of a Yamaha Weddington Classic in cherry sunburst. Made in Japan in the early 90's, they retailed for about $2500 new and were Yamaha's top of the line guitar and best at a modernized Les Paul (some compare it to a PRS McCarty). It has a straight grained mahogany body, 1/2'' thick carved beautifully quilted maple top, 3-piece mahogany set neck (you can see in the photos how the set neck joint is greatly relieved for easy reach to the higher frets), bound Rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays weighing in at a classic 9.3lb. The neck is thinner than a 50’s Les Paul neck, probably closer to a 60’s neck. The weight is accommodated when strapped on by its balanced design.
Its condition is so close to perfect, it's hard to say it isn’t a 10 out of 10. Any imperfections in the pictures are with the picture and not the guitar. The neck is straight, very comfortable, setup is fast and there is no buzzing. It was purchased originally in California by a wanna-be female rock star but remained under the bed until I picked it up. I did some upgrades to my own liking. The frets were professionally replaced with 6105 frets and have practically no wear. The pickups were replaced with Gibson Burstbuckers (1-neck and 2-bridge) as are used on a 59 Historical Les Paul. I installed an RS Guitarworks Premium Vintage Electronics Upgrade kit which replaced the volume and tone pots and using Hovland Musicaps. I p
