Thanks for looking!
This one has
obviously gotten a LOT of use. It shows a fair amount of cosmetic
issues, but still has it where it counts. Still, being from 1979, it
could look worse for sure: A couple of small finish cracks and quite a
few dings, but the neck is straight, the intonation is good, the
electronics work, and the sound is lovely! I've given it a good
cleaning with Dunlop 65 polish and cleaned and oiled the fret board. Which
reminds me, the fretboard has some grooving on the second and third
frets, and the bridge is grooving where the nylon strings wrap around it. Neither of these issues affects the sound at all. The previous owner must have seriously played this one....and
played and played! The action's OK, but it still has a shim under the
saddle if you want it a little lower. I've just put a new set of D'Addario high tension nylon strings on it, and it positively sings! Very, VERY nice tone! I also replaced the volume and tone knob with a new factory set.
are the basics from Ovation: Artist bowl, AA solid spruce top, VT-8
bracing, scale is 25 1/4'', ebony fret-board, walnut bridge, piezo-electric pick-up, 1 7/8'' nut,
classic deluxe chrome tuners with pearloid buttons.
I think I
got good pictures of this thing's ding collection (so look closely), but none of them
affect the sound or playability. Still, feel free to ask questions. This
would make a great guitar for taking pretty much anywhere you want.
