This beautiful guitar is playable and has that booming Harmony jumbo sound. That's the good news. The bad news is that it has been the victim, as far as I can tell, of two botched neck repairs. I acquired it thinking I would try to have it restored, but I just can't justify in my current situation shelling out the money, so I am putting it up for sale. It is essentially a fancy version of the more common 1260 jumbo, with all solid woods and a 1 3/4 nut. There is no date stamp inside, but I am guessing circa 1970.
Please note that a JLD bridge doctor has been installed. That's the reason there's a large brass bridge pin for the D string. This device will stop or correct any rolling of the bridge. I've heard it also improves the sound. There is some bellying of the top but not much. I believe the bridge doctor could be tightened to correct this, but I never tried it. The condition hasn't changed since I acquired it a couple of years ago. It's a simple procedure to remove the bridge doctor, and it will not leave any trace of its ever having been there. The adjustable bridge is fully functional, and, I believe, all original. The pickguards could use a spot of adhesive here and there as they are coming up in a few places. You can see what looks like a little tape residue that easily could be removed.
As to the neck. There appears to have been some separation of the heel and and attempt to reglue it. I am also wondering whether the heel was cracked while being clamped. As you can see there appear to be some faint cracks below the head of the carriage bolt. Then someone
