Vintage Harmony Sovereign Acoustic Guitar. Absolutely gorgeous guitar that shows the loving wear from decades of music. This is the Jumbo H1260 model that was the top of the line for Harmony from the late 50's to early 70's. This particular guitar was most likely from the early to mid-60's. U.S.A. made with all premium select woods. Brazelian rosewood fretboard and bridge, 0ne piece mahogany back and spruce top.
Pete Townsend of the Who used one of these extensively, Jimmy Page performed the acoustic intro to Led Zepplin's ''Stairway to Heaven'' on a Sovereign. Also blues men Lightnin Hopkins and Mance Lipscomb. Huge deep bass tone and clear trebles, this guitar is a boomer! The tone is somewhere between the dry raspy tone of a vintage Gibson and the rich overtones of an old Martin.
I've owned this guitar for almost 20 years and it is the guitar I learned to play on. Although it is well worn, it is beautiful and comfortable. The action is high (about 1/4 inch at the 12th fret) as it usually is on the Sovereign. I had the neck reset probably 15 years ago, but I'm sure it could benefit from another reset. The tuning hardware was replaced at some point and is not original.
I no longer play, but maybe you can give this beauty a new home. I will ship the guitar in a soft ''gig bag'' to help protect it. Flat shipping of $35.00 in the U.S. which includes insurance.
