I AM A BLUEGRASS MUSICIAN, PLAY 5-STRING BANJO AND GUITAR, AND WILL TRY AND GIVE YOU SOME BACKGROUND AND GUIDIANCE ON THIS UNIQUE INSTRUMENT!  YEARS AGO I SAW SONNY OSBORN PLAY ONE OF THESE '' GIT-JOES '' AT A SHOW IN COLUMBUS, OHIO AND I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT HE COULD DO ON THIS TYPE OF INSTRUMENT!  I THOUGHT TO MYSELF SOMEDAY I AM GOING TO LOCATE ONE THESE AND LEARN TO PLAY IT!  WELL, A FRIEND OF MINE WAS IN AN ANTIQUE STORE IN DALLAS, TEXAS AND CALLED ME ON THE TELEPHONE TO TELL ME WHAT THE HAD FOUND....A '' git-joe '' WITH AN OCTAVE STRING!  I CAME DOWN TO THE SHOP IMMEDIATELY WAS OVERWHELMED WITH THE INSTRUMENTS CONDITION AND BEAUTIFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP!  I KNEW THIS WAS MINE TO HAVE AND PURCHASED IT RIGHT ON THE SPOT!

MY NEXT MISSION WAS TO GET IT DOWN TO MY LONGTIME FRIEND RANDY WOOD/RANDY WOOD GUITARS IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA FOR A NEW SETUP AND OVERALL GOING OVER.  IT PASSED THE TEST WITH FLYING COLORS AND RANDY SAID IT REQUIRED VERY LITTLE WORK TO PUT IT IN GOOD PLAYING CONDITION.  I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THIS UNIQUE INSTRUMENT, BUT I RESPECTIVELY ASK YOU TO STUDY MY PHOTOGRAPHS AND IF NECESSARY SEND ME AN E-MAIL WITH YOUR QUESTIONS.

HERE IS A TRANSLATION FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS INCASE YOU WANT TO DO SOME ADDITIONAL RESEARCH ON THIS INSTRUMENT:

ON THE WOODEN ROD IS STAMPED THE FOLLOWING: W TEMLETT MAKER LONDON 3753 ; ALSO THERE IS A STAMPING OF A ROMAN SOLDIER HOLDING A SHIELD.

STAMPED ON THE RIM IS  THE FOLL
