1972 GUILD STARFIRE II HOLLOWBODY BASS... ALL ORIGINAL
This Beautiful bass is all original. All original tuners, bridge, pickups, knobs, and hardshell case. No modifications. Bass is strung with flatwounds and sounds incredible... this is the preferred bass of Justin Meldal Johnson from Beck's former band. It will really get you that vintage late 60's early 70's ''plucky'' rock bass sound. This bass has the original humbucking pickups that guild put on these after 1970 or so. There's also a guy out there who will sell you a recreation of the 60s ''bi-sonic'' pickups, which are now issued as ''dark star'' pickups... I didn't get around to it or want to because it already sounds amazing as is. Neck is straight. Rosewood fretboard. This one has the wooden bridge as well, all original. I bought it from the original owner, who told me that Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead bought one a few serial numbers away in 1972. It was bought from a store in San Francisco in '72. A touch of belt buckle scratches on the back; very minimal. There is one flaw which I have shown that is on the back of the neck, but you will never feel it while you play b/c it's on the underside as you hold the guitar. There are some very unnoticable fine chips in the white binding around the bottom of the body.
All in all, I would consider the guitar investment grade. And plays amazing... action is great and frets have
