This auction is for a 1983 Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue in very good condition with original hardshell case. Gibson introduced the Dot Reissues around '81 or '82, right around the time of the move from Kalamazoo to Nashville. These guitars have become known in certain circles as a great alternative to vintage models. This particular guitar has a beautiful cherry red finish, with some very slight hints of flame. It also has a great neck profile. It has more of a rounded C shape that probably falls between the typical 50's and 60's neck shape. Not too thin and not too clubby. Pickups are original and may be the coveted Tim Shaw designed pickups. Tuners are also original Grovers. It has been refretted with medium jumbo frets for better playibility, and the tone caps were replaced with RS Guitarworks Jensen paper and oil caps. Everything else is original to my knowledge. Overall the guitar has aged gracefully, but it has been played, which it should be. The binding has yellowed nicely and is in great shape, with only some chipping on both sides of the neck around the 19th fret. Overall, everything else is nice shape. There have been no breaks or repairs. There is a paint chip on the on the headstock, located below the high E tuner and the nut, and there is a small ding at the cutaway by the pickguard. The top has the typical swirl marks from playing and handling, and the back has some belt buckling going on. The case is moderately beat up, but completely functio
