If you know about the reputation of the D/PW Mahogany, you know it is a favored dreadnought at a very reasonable price. I have to believe that this one is outstanding by any standards and is perfect for flatpicking.The custom hard top enhances the quality. I'm letting it go because I need a short scale to make any reaches. This one has a 25.375'' scale and 1 11/16'' width at the nut. As SCGC guitars are known for, this one has outstanding note separation and balance. I hate to let it go.
In excellent condition overall. There's some vague ''sinking'' of the nitrocellulose finish in the grain of the Carpathian top. (This is not something you can see unless at a very specific angle--I just want you to know about it.) I sent it over to Santa Cruz and their master luthier explained that this is not unusual with this finish. He said that the nitrocellulose is a thin finish and he recommended no changes due to risk of affecting the tone. If you check the SCGC Players forum, you'll note that this is apparently not unusual, and touted by the folks on the listserv as an indicator of improved tone. (You'll also see that this model is much appreciated.)
While it was with SCGC, I had them replace the tuners with the 2nd generation SCGC tuners. They are incredibly smooth and accurate. OHSC included.
